Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin Tincture Used in Two Research Studies with Amazing Results

Twice this year Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin tincture has been used in research studies.  The tests revealed interesting and amazing results.  In February, a qEEG (brainwave test) was conducted.  The test recorded a patient’s brainwaves before and after the use of Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD.  A second research project was conducted over spring term at Indian River College in Florida.  This project took HeLa cancer cells and applied different strengths of Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD to the cancer cell samples.  Both tests had positive results.  A brief explanation and summary of each test follow.

February 2019 – qEEG Test Conducted Using Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD

An EEG or Electroencephalography measures the electrical patterns at the surface of the scalp, which reflects the brainwaves.  A qEEG or Quantitative Electroencephalogram goes further, measuring and analyzing electrical activity, creating a brain map of the activity, or a topical snapshot of brain patterns.  There are many studies published in the US National Library of Medicine suggesting that these maps can help aid in evaluating several medical conditions.

How is the test done?

An electro cap, containing small electrodes is placed on the head to measure the electrical patterns while the patient sits quietly with eyes open or closed.  For this particular test data was captured before the use of the product and after taking the Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin complex.  Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta, and Gamma waves were measured both before and after the use of the product.

How do brainwaves appear on a Brain Map?  As color-coded Z-scores!

Using the Quantitative EEG or qEEG test, it is possible to measure neural patterns to see how the brain is functioning.  Results from a qEEG are presented as Z-scores.  These scores represent the difference in wave frequency using before and after snapshots.  The Z-scores are color-coded to show increased or decreased activity.  For instance, a score of 0 represents the norm and is color-coded green, red indicates excessive activity, orange, and yellow lessor activity, and blue shows decreased activity.  Below is one of the images taken from the results.

Brain Wave picture

The qEEG comparison report and video provide amazing results!

The report in the video shows a significant change in brainwave activity and lowered z-scores after using Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin tincture.  Z-scores are indicators of activity, with zero being the norm or “mean,” the higher the z-score, the more noteworthy the health condition.  A lower or zero score is optimal.  Several conditions can be measured with this test, including but not limited to migraines, ADHD, Dyslexia, anxiety and depression, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, impaired memory, and more.

The following video provides a 15-minute summary provided by the lab, explaining the process, measurements, and remarkable results.

June 2019 – HeLa Cancer Cell Report / Research using Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin

This research performed by a team of students at Indian River State College is incredibly amazing.  The student’s hypothesis: “Application of CBD/Curcumin would inhibit the growth of HeLa cell culture because of CBD’s anti-proliferative effects on cancer types, and curcumin’s tumorigenesis pathway suppression.”

They followed the HeLa cell protocol before treatment, sterilized Murphy’s CBD/Curcumin complex and stored until needed for application, and then began treating each row [pictured below] with different concentrations of the sterilized complex.

You’ll see in the picture several columns, each well contained roughly 2 ml of HeLa cell culture, mixed with bovine serum for enrichment.  They filter-sterilized the Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/curcumin complex used before treatment.  The first column was the control sample, the second column was treated with 5 ul of the CBD/Curcumin complex, the third with 10 ul of the complex, and the fourth with 20 ul of the complex.  ul stands for microliter.

For clarification, according to the John Hopkins Medicine website, HeLa cells are:

Among the important scientific discoveries of the last century was the first immortal human cell line known as “HeLa”  — a remarkably durable and prolific line of cells obtained during the treatment of Henrietta’s cancer by Johns Hopkins researcher Dr. George Gey in 1951.

Although these were the first cells that could be easily shared and multiplied in a lab setting, Johns Hopkins has never sold or profited from the discovery or distribution of HeLa cells and does not own the rights to the HeLa cell line. Rather, Johns Hopkins offered HeLa cells freely and widely for scientific research. (1)

A little more detail about these “immortal cells.”  This is the oldest and most commonly used human cell line.  The line was derived from cervical cancer cells taken on February 8, 1951, from Henrietta Lacks, a patient who died of cancer on October 4, 1951. (2)

You’ll notice in the following images that the results showed visibly less HeLa cell growth and inhibition with the 20 ul concentration.  There was not much of a difference between the 5 ul and the 10 ul dosages.  The images below provide more detail, much more clear, and appear in the order of “control,” then from lower to higher CBD/Curcumin concentrations applied.

The first image – control:

The second & third:  you can see a bit of the tincture spots:

And in the last photo: you can see the difference in cell count:

Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin inhibited cell growth in the HeLa cancer cells.  The 20 ul dilution wells had visibly less cell growth in comparison to control, 5 ul and 10 ul wells.  The students assumed that the CBD/Curcumin may have silenced the Id-2 and Id-1 gene, which slows cancer development or inhibits the epidermal growth factor.

An interesting side-note, another group of students in the same class used CBD oil, but they had a hard time because it wasn’t water-soluble, [like Murphy’s Natural Hemp].  They eventually had similar results, but according to my source, they had to use a ridiculously high concentration of the oil!  So the Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin is much more efficient and effective.

Based on both tests, continuous research using CBD for medicinal purposes should be considered.  Before using CBD with any other medications you may be taking, consult your physician.  For more information regarding this research, or to purchase Murphy’s Natural Hemp products, go to http://www.murphysnaturalhemp.com.

CBD & the Human Body

Looking for natural alternatives

CBD has hit the market hard since the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, which was great news for those of us looking for natural alternatives to prescription medications or over-the-counter remedies.  There has been a reported explosion in growth, production, selection of products, and consumer demand.  CBD is largely known for anxiety and pain relief, as well as muscle-relaxing properties, however, studies suggest this plant-derived natural remedy may also have additional health benefits.

How CBD words in the Human Body Clear graphic

Anxiety relief and more

With consumer use rapidly growing, research and clinical studies are also on the rise.  A recently published study on CBD for anxiety concluded that:

“Current understanding of the physiology and neurologic pathways points to a benefit with anxiety-related issues. The results of our clinical report support the existing scientific evidence. In our study, we saw no evidence of a safety issue that would limit future studies. In this evaluation, CBD appears to be better tolerated than routine psychiatric medications. Furthermore, CBD displays promise as a tool for reducing anxiety in clinical populations…”  (January 2019)

Additional trials and clinical studies were suggested to further confirm findings.  Still, this study echoes past findings from research conducted and published over many years, some as far back as 2001. (1) (2)  Other research indicates CBD use as beneficial for reducing inflammation, treatment for pain, combating arthritis, treating sleep disorders and more.

A very interesting study published by Pisanti, Malfitano, Ciaglia, and Lambert in February 2017, and later included in a World Health Organization (WHO) report November 2017, lists a number of diseases for which CBD may have therapeutic benefits.  The list includes Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple sclerosis, Huntington’s, Hypoxia-ischemia injury, Depression, Cancer, Nausea, Inflammatory bowel and Crohn’s, Cardiovascular and Diabetic complications. (3) (4)  As always, it’s important to talk with a physician before adding natural remedies to existing medications.

Murphy’s Natural Hemp Pairs CBD & Curcumin for increased health benefits

Murphy’s Natural Hemp pairs the benefits of CBD with the powerhouse spice, Curcumin.  Curcumin is receiving worldwide attention due to its multiple health benefits, which appear to act primarily through its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms.  It is one of the main ingredients of turmeric powder, which is harvested from the turmeric plant by grinding up its root.  Curcumin has shown promising effects in patients with various pro-inflammatory diseases including cancer, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, ulcerative proctitis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel disease, peptic ulcer, gastric ulcer, gastric inflammation, psoriasis, and lupus.

Water-Soluble Products

One of the main challenges with CBD and Curcumin is guaranteeing the bioavailability of the active ingredients, especially when they have limited gastrointestinal permeability.  To improve aqueous solubility, and thus the therapeutic effectiveness of these compounds, we researched countless formulation strategies, and were successful in finding a solution!  Murphy’s Natural Hemp products are designed with pharmaceutical technology that is typically used where circumstances demand increasing vital water-insoluble proteins for patients who are dealing with illnesses.

Unlike other CBD formulas, there is no nano complex in our solution, which only disperses small nano-size clusters of CBD molecules in an otherwise insoluble mixture. Eventually, all nano products separate, like oil and water… and, they show no improvement for increasing bioavailability.  And our products are made with 100% purified water, unlike oil-based CBD products offered by other companies.  This is what makes our products stand out among the rest.  99% of our product is absorbed by the body.  Only 10% of CBD is absorbed using the leading oil-based products.

CBD & Pain Relief

Last fall of 2018, another person in my neighborhood was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation and joint pain, Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).  I spoke with her about the drug treatment she was prescribed, as well as other natural remedies that she’s decided to use.

sitting in pain by Imani Clovis

Interview with Sue:

Me: Sue, thanks for sharing your story with me today.   Tell me about your journey and being diagnosed with RA.  What are the major symptoms of RA and what prescription drugs have you tried so far?

Sue: Well, it started with feeling tired and having stiffness in my hands and knees.  I thought I was just doing too much so I cut back on some activities, but it continued.  As time went on, the joints in my fingers started swelling, and I had quite a bit of pain.  When I couldn’t get by with over-the-counter pain relievers anymore, I decided I’d better see a doctor.  Last fall, I was diagnosed with RA, and started on Methotrexate, which seemed to be effective, but it made me feel sick all the time.  Kind of like I had the flu every day with nausea and vomiting.  After a few weeks, I had to stop taking it.  Just made me too sick to function.

Me: And you’ve gone back to see the doctor about a different medication?

Sue: Not yet, I looked into what other medications are available and they all have major side effects.  I’d heard about CBD helping with inflammation and pain and decided to give it a try before I go on to another prescription medication.

Me:  Are you using an under-the-tongue CBD oil tincture?

Sue: Actually, I bought a CBD topical cream that I can rub into my joints, and then also use an under the tongue CBD tincture.  It’s been helping.

Me: What would you like others to know about natural remedy use and effectiveness?

Sue: I’m definitely getting some pain relief.  I did find that it wears off just after mid-day, so I’m working on dosage and when to reapply or use the tincture again.  After the experience with vomiting every day with taking the prescription medication, in my opinion, I feel it’s better to use these remedies for awhile to see if I can manage the pain and inflammation naturally.  If this doesn’t work for me, then I’ll go back to my doctor.  Maybe a combination of prescription and CBD would work, I’d have to check with him.  But for now, this appears to be working, I just have to find the correct dosage.  I’ll keep you posted!

Me: Thanks for talking with me today Sue.  I appreciate your sharing and look forward to knowing more about how these natural remedies are working for you.  Also, I’m going to leave you with a brochure from a company I buy from, Murphy’s Natural Hemp.  They combine CBD with Curcumin, which is also known as a natural remedy that helps with inflammation and pain.  I’d love to get your feedback on the products.

Sue:  Thank you!  I will definitely give them a try, and I’d be happy to talk with you about the results and give you my feedback.

I’ll be following up with Sue in a month or two to see how she’s doing with the natural remedy approaches.  Stay tuned!  Sue is one of many individuals around the world who are turning to CBD for pain relief in dealing with RA and other medical conditions.

According to a 2018 study, which looked at “who, how, and why individuals are currently using CBD,” nearly 62% of the individuals responding reported using CBD to treat a medical condition, with pain, anxiety, and depression being at the top.  What I found most interesting about this study was that almost 36% of the people who responded, reported that CBD was all they needed.  They had no need for any other medication to treat their particular medical condition other than the CBD.  Only 4.3% reported that the CBD did not work well for them. (1)

Medical Conditions reported using CBD n3963

In addition, this same study reported: “Respondents selected “Other” 362 times. The most common “Other” conditions reported were neuropathy (n=48), autoimmune conditions (n=38), and fibromyalgia (n=37).”(1)

What is CBD?

Herb - Pixabay

What is CBD and where does it come from?

Originating in Central Asia, the Cannabaceae family of flowering plants has about 170 different species, one of which is Cannabis.  Plants from the cannabis genus (remember your biology class), are grown and used for a number of purposes.  Cultivated as hemp, the plants can be used to produce fiber, oils, as well as edible seeds and leaves.  Other plants from this same genus, such as marijuana, are cultivated and harvested for medicinal and recreational purposes.  Hemp and marijuana are two different types of plants that originate from the same family.  You could liken it to you and your siblings or cousins.  You’re all from the same family, but you’re each different in a number of ways.

Hemp extract is a natural chemical compound that comes from the cannabis sativa plant.  CBD is one of over 100 such compounds, known as cannabinoids, that are found in the Hemp plant.  CBD products have been identified as the most potent chemical in hemp.  Despite its potency,  CBD does not have any psychoactive effects, simply put it does not get the user “high.”

Research studies have shown this cannabinoid can be beneficial for a number of health conditions, in particular, inflammation reduction, treatment for pain, combating arthritis, reducing anxiety, treating sleep disorders and more. (1)(2)  Further research and clinical studies continue, so it looks as though there will be more information regarding practical and medicinal uses with this natural remedy in the future. (3)

How do you use CBD?

There are a growing number of ways to use CBD.  As a natural remedy tincture, simply place the correct quantity of drops under your tongue using the dropper and hold the CBD oil in place for 60 seconds.  For joint or muscle pain relief, my own physician suggested massaging it in the painful area,  allowing the oil to absorb.  There are topical creams and gels also available, which are placed directly on your skin for irritation or rashes.  Energy capsules, energy drinks, coffee combos and more are coming to the market quickly as the benefits of this plant compound become known, more accepted, and widely used.

What’s in Murphy’s Natural Hemp Water Soluble CBD/Curcumin Tincture?

Murphy’s CBD/Curcumin water-soluble tincture contains 99% pure water, pure CBD/Curcumin 560mg Proprietary Isolate – 18.67mg per serving and Zero THC. Unlike other CBD products, Murphy’s Natural Hemp is an all-natural water-soluble source of CBD plus Ayurvedic herbs that have more bioavailability to the body, and because it is water-soluble, it easily dissolves and enters your system quickly, effectively and efficiently.

What’s in Murphy’s Natural Hemp Water Soluble Sleep Tincture?

Murphy’s Sleep Tincture is a water-soluble formula that is more bioavailable than any CBD oil product on the market.  It contains: CBD/Curcumin 690mg isolates; 18.67mg CBD/Curcumin per serving  (Pure water 99% + Pure CBD/Curcumin Isolate);  30mg Melatonin – 1mg per serving; 99.99mg 5-HTP – 3.33mg per serving and 99.99mg GABA – 3.33mg per serving.  Zero THC.  You can take this product under your tongue, add it to water, or to another beverage approximately 20 minutes before bedtime.  Our sleep tincture will help you get to sleep easily and aid you in getting a deeper sleep, leaving you more rested and prepared for the upcoming day.  Since its water-soluble it will easily dissolve, entering your system faster and absorbing more effectively.

Why should I choose Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD Product Over Other CBD Products?

Murphy’s is literally the “clear” choice when it comes to water-soluble CBD products.  Other companies have made claims that their CBD oils are water-soluble, but oil and water don’t mix.  Murphy’s Natural Hemp uses a solubilization technology that increases the bioavailability to the body.  Our water-soluble products with their high bioavailability make it easy for your body to absorb and transport the proprietary blends throughout the body.  You are receiving the highest quality water-soluble products.  The video below shows the stark difference between our water-soluble product vs other popular oil-based or water-soluble products on the market.  If you have any questions, contact us!

Curcumin & Pain Relief – the short story

tumeric_big

Curcumin has become a commonly stocked item on the natural remedy shelves of your local pharmacies, nutrition centers, and grocery stores.  The spice has long been recognized by holistic and herbal medicine practitioners around the globe for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.   Turmeric and Curcumin are produced by grinding the root or underground stem of the Curcuma longa plant, producing the yellow spice turmeric, curcumin is a compound found within turmeric.  Past research studies have shown that turmeric/curcumin has anti-inflammatory properties and helps in strengthening the immune system.

Despite the availability, research studies and common use, I just haven’t been ready to take the leap into using this spicy remedy.  Instead, I decided to first put a shout-out to see if anyone I know has personal experience with the spice and if they’d be willing to share.  Almost immediately, people started responding, saying they use it, and with good results.  Here’s what they had to say:

Interview with Megan:

Me: Hi Meg, So what made you turn to Curcumin/Turmeric as a natural remedy? And did you research it before you bought it?  I’m a fence sitter and haven’t decided if I should use it or not.

Megan: I’d been taking over the counter products for my joint problems, and they didn’t seem to be helping much, so I started researching different articles on the net, read through some nutritional websites, and watched a few holistic medicine YouTube videos.  They talked about its effectiveness, and recommended the spice as a natural remedy.  So I decided to give it a try.

Me: How do you use the spice?  Do you put it directly on food?

Megan: I bought the combination Curcumin/Turmeric capsules.  My son uses the spice as well, putting it directly on his food.

Me: How long have you been using this natural supplement?  Have you noticed any differences?  And if you have, what kind?

Megan: I have been taking this supplement for about three months now and yes, I’ve definitely noticed a difference!  Probably the biggest difference, is that my joints don’t ache any more, at all. No pain.

Me: Wow, that’s fantastic!  What milligrams of the spice do you use on a daily basis?

Megan: It’s a combination of turmeric and curcumin capsule.  I take 500 mg once a day.

Me: What would you like others to know about this natural remedy, and its use from your perspective?  Is there anything else you’d like to share with us about your experience with using curcumin/turmeric?

Megan: I recommend it, just because of the success I’ve had with it, and also recommend that other’s give it a try before turning to NSAIDS or other anti-inflammatory medications.  I tore my meniscus 20 years ago and had been taking glucosamine chondroitin for the constant swelling.  It helped a little bit, but wasn’t consistently effective.  In just 3 months of taking the Curcumin/Turmeric combination, I no longer have any swelling in my knee.   I’m having the same results with the joints in my hands, they used to swell up and ache in the mornings, and I’m no longer experiencing that as well.

I was surprised to hear about the successes she’s had and realized she was the perfect person to interview because she’s fact-based and researches anything before she moves forward with it.   I thanked Meg for sharing her story and found several others had responded with similar positive feedback.

Shortly after the interview with Meg, I received an email from a work colleague sharing his experience with using the spice as a natural remedy for back pain:

“Because of an injury to my back I was in constant pain.  It was especially painful when trying to stand up.  I began getting Curcumin injections after several recommendations from people I know that had also received them for inflammation.   Once I started the Curcumin injections the pain subsided, and I no longer suffered the chronic pain that had been ongoing for almost 20 years.  It’s good stuff.  It’s made a huge difference in my life and what I can do without being in constant pain, or wouldn’t even try to do because of the fear of the pain it would cause later.”  ~ MS

BZ from New Jersey: “I put it into food sometimes.  I just put some into some [homemade] lotion bars as well.  I don’t use it frequently enough to make a strong claim, but I do notice the sharpness of my joint pain eases when ingested.”

Every couple of hours, I receive another response from a friend, family member, work colleague or reader telling me that this natural remedy works on inflammation and pain.  Even my internist is recommending it for arthritis and Fibro pain.  And if there’s any more evidence needed, a more recent study done in 2017 concluded: “… that curcumin can help in the management of oxidative and inflammatory conditions, metabolic syndrome, arthritis, anxiety, and hyperlipidemia. It may also help in the management of exercise-induced inflammation and muscle soreness, thus enhancing recovery and subsequent performance in active people. Also, a relatively low dose can provide health benefits for people that do not have diagnosed health conditions.” (1)

Looks like I’m jumping off the fence into the Curcumin pond!  Do you use this natural remedy?  How has it helped you?

G’Night, sleep well – the natural remedy approach

GnightYou’ve come to the end of another productive day.  It’s time to slow down, to rest and relax… and you can’t.  Your head hits the pillow, your mind is still working, the anxiety about not getting enough sleep rolls in, tossing and turning, counting llamas (or the furry  creature of your choice), reciting a list of positive affirmations in your mind… despite all your best efforts it’s now dawn and you’ve experienced another night of poor sleep.

There are remedies.  Physicians often prescribe a pharmaceutical or may recommend an over-the-counter sleep product, but these medications can come with nasty side effects like, dizziness, daytime drowsiness, dry mouth or throat, burning or tingling in the hands, arms, feet, or legs, changes in appetite, constipation or diarrhea.  Some individuals have even complained of sleep walking, or worse yet, sleep shopping and not remembering it!  (Yes, I have a friend who did this. Several times.)  Murphy’s Natural Hemp has an all natural sleep remedy, specifically designed to help take you into a deeper, more restful sleep.

Our CBD sleep-aid product is the natural approach you’re looking for, without the side effects that typically come with using prescription medications or the over-the-counter quick fix.  Unlike oil-based products, Murphy’s Natural Hemp Sleep Aid, which contains CBD & Curcumin, 5-HTP, GABA, and Melatonin, is a water-soluble formula that is quickly and effectively absorbed by the body.

What’s in our product and how does it help you fall asleep?

sleep-aid-bottle-600x600-1CBD/Curcumin:

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of over 100 cannabinoids, that are found in the cannabis sativa plant.  It does not get the user “high.”  CBD has become increasingly popular over the last several years for treating patients with insomnia, pain, anxiety, IBS, arthritis and more.  It is believed that CBD works with the body’s own network of receptors, called the Endocannabinoid System or ECS, in assisting the natural processes that are responsible for calming the central nervous system, and reducing the stress response. (1)(2)

Curcumin, one of the main ingredients of turmeric powder, which is harvested from the turmeric plant by grinding up its root,  is recommended for its multiple health benefits, which appear to act primarily through its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms.  Ongoing research is proving the spice to be effective in patients with arthritis, fibromyalgia, IBS, and lupus.  By decreasing inflammation and pain in the body, a more restful sleep is possible.

5-HTP

5-Hydroxytryptophan, commonly known as 5-HTP is a naturally occurring amino acid that works in the brain and central nervous system to aid in the production of the chemicals serotonin and melatonin, two of the most important brain chemicals for regulating the sleep/wake cycle.  This means that supplementing 5-HTP will boost both serotonin and melatonin. (3)

GABA

Gamma aminobutyric acid, or GABA for short, is a naturally occurring amino acid that works as a chemical neurotransmitter in your brain.  GABA blocks certain signals in the brain, decreasing activity, which as a result produces a calming effect with anxiety and stress, both contributors to sleepless nights. Melatonin

Finally, Melatonin is a hormone naturally produced within the body, that plays a major role in the body’s circadian rhythm or “body clock.” It is naturally produced in greater amounts as twilight approaches in order to help us fall asleep.  Produced and secreted by the pineal gland, Melatonin levels rise and fall between twilight and sunrise, with levels going up around 9 p.m., peaking during the night and staying high until dawn, finally dropping off around 9 a.m.  During the day, Melatonin hormone levels are almost non-existent.  Instead, other stimulating hormones, like cortisol, take over to keep us actively moving through the day.  Studies suggest this supplement helps reduce the time it takes to fall asleep. GABA – A natural approach to better sleep

Gamma-aminobutyric acid, or GABA for short, is a naturally occurring amino acid that works as a chemical neurotransmitter in your brain.  GABA blocks certain signals in the brain, decreasing activity, which as a result produces a calming effect.  This can help with anxiety and stress, both contributors to sleeplessness.  A study conducted in 2018 showed supplemental GABA improved sleep quality, and without the adverse effects associated with prescribed sleep medications. In addition, GABA studies have been conducted in regard to how this amino acid affects the gastrointestinal system, or “gut.”  Gut flora is crucial in keeping the immune system functioning properly and communicating with the brain.  Philip Strandwitz and his colleagues at Northeastern University Boston reported in 2016:

“Bacteria have been discovered in our guts that depend on one of our brain chemicals for survival.  These bacteria consume GABA, a molecule crucial for calming the brain, and the fact that they gobble it up could help explain why the gut microbiome seems to affect mood… GABA acts by inhibiting signals from nerve cells, calming down the activity of the brain, so it’s surprising to learn that a gut bacterium needs it to grow and reproduce.  Having abnormally low levels of GABA are linked to depression and mood disorders, and this finding adds to growing evidence that our gut bacteria may affect our brains.” (2)

Wow!  Research and studies of this significant amino acid and its health benefits in treating insomnia, anxiety, and depression continue.  With GABA level’s being linked to better sleep, Murphy’s Natural Hemp has combined the perfect mix of compounds that will assist you in getting a good night’s sleep, CBD/Curcumin, Melatonin, 5-HTP, and GABA.  In addition, because of the water-soluble properties of Murphy’s Natural Hemp Sleep Aid, lower dosages of the tincture will provide the same effects as products that are not water-based.  This video illustrates the stark contrast between our water-based tinctures and other oil-based or water-soluble CBD products on the market.  Murphy’s Natural Hemp is clearly the better choice!

Sleep Benefits of 5-HTP Supplements

Man sleeping - by Arthur Savary

Tossing and turning, sleepless nights, waking up exhausted and anxious knowing you face another work day… insomnia is incredibly frustrating, with the lack of sleep affecting every aspect of life.  5-HTP is a natural remedy that may help you sleep deeper and stay asleep longer.

A number of studies done over the last two decades found 5-HTP helps with insomnia and improves overall sleep quality. (1)  It is not found in food but is created from another amino acid, tryptophan, which can be found in high-protein animal foods like meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, and eggs.  Supplements of 5-HTP are typically produced from a woody African shrub called Griffonia simplicifolia, which seeds contain 20% of the amino acid.

Research has shown that 5-HTP can assist in shortening the time it takes to fall asleep and increase sleep amounts with fewer side effects than sleep medications.   5-HTP can be beneficial in easing symptoms of stress and anxiety, which also interfere with sleep patterns.  This supplement has also been used for depression, anxiety, headaches, fibromyalgia, obesity, PMS, ADHD, and Parkinson’s.

Currently, there is no recommended daily allowance for 5-HTP.  Most individuals take between 25 and 100 milligrams per day, starting with a lower dose of 25 mg and moving up to a higher dose as needed.   Murphy’s Natural Hemp Sleep Tincture contains the perfect combination of compounds that will assist you in getting a good night’s sleep.  In addition, because of the water-soluble properties of  Murphy’s Natural Hemp, lower dosages of the tincture will provide the same effects as products that are not water-based.  This video proves the vast difference between our water-based tinctures and other popular oil-based or water-soluble CBD products on the market.

Before taking any supplement, be sure to consult with your physician.  Documentation indicates that the use of 5-HTP supplements should not be combined with antidepressants or MAO inhibitors.  You should not take with ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, common in many over-the-counter cold remedies. (1)

“Prohibition” is Over

cannibus plant

Did you know that at the beginning of the last century, extracts of the cannabis plant were used as a natural remedy… and available at every chemist’s business?  However, this practice was discontinued in the 1930’s and the plant taken off the chemists shelves because of the “high” individuals received as a result of the THC component.

Hemp is back.  A 2018 cross-sectional study of 2,409 participants revealed 62% of respondents using CBD to treat a medical condition, with the top three medical conditions being pain, anxiety, and depression.  In addition, 36% of the participants reported CBD treating the condition “very well” by itself, with no additional meds or supplements.

Cross Sectional Study of Cannabidiol Users 2018 study

The conclusion of the study states: “Consumers are using CBD as a specific therapy for multiple diverse medical conditions-particularly pain, anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders. These data provide a compelling rationale for further research to better understand the therapeutic potential of CBD.”1

According to, Eileen Konieczny, RN, “In it’s cocktail of cannabinoids, there is proportionally more CBD in hemp than in cannabis; hemp naturally produces a higher proportion of CBD as compared to other phytocannabinoids, like THC.” She continues, “You can think of it as a giant pie chart of phytocannabinoids, where in hemp’s pie chart, the CBD slice is bigger than in cannabises.  This is one of the reasons hemp has become such a popular source of CBD, and has led in turn to an industrial hemp farming revival here in the U.S. after decades of prohibition.”

“Prohibition” is over. Research of Curcumin has shown promising effects in patients with various pro-inflammatory diseases including cancer, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, ulcerative proctitis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel disease, peptic ulcer, gastric ulcer, gastric inflammation, psoriasis, and lupus.

CBD and Curcumin Together

Widely researched, these potent anti-inflammatory agents together in a pure water-soluble product may provide you a powerhouse against health challenges.  With our bodies consisting of up to 60% – 70% water, an oil-free, water-based CBD and Curcumin product is optimal.  Murphy’s Natural Hemp complexes are the answer.  With our water-soluble products, which are easily and quickly absorbed, the body typically utilizes 90% or more of the ingredients.  This makes our products stand out among the rest!
