Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin Tincture Used in Two Research Studies with Amazing Results

Twice this year Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin tincture has been used in research studies.  The tests revealed interesting and amazing results.  In February, a qEEG (brainwave test) was conducted.  The test recorded a patient’s brainwaves before and after the use of Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD.  A second research project was conducted over spring term at Indian River College in Florida.  This project took HeLa cancer cells and applied different strengths of Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD to the cancer cell samples.  Both tests had positive results.  A brief explanation and summary of each test follow.

February 2019 – qEEG Test Conducted Using Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD

An EEG or Electroencephalography measures the electrical patterns at the surface of the scalp, which reflects the brainwaves.  A qEEG or Quantitative Electroencephalogram goes further, measuring and analyzing electrical activity, creating a brain map of the activity, or a topical snapshot of brain patterns.  There are many studies published in the US National Library of Medicine suggesting that these maps can help aid in evaluating several medical conditions.

How is the test done?

An electro cap, containing small electrodes is placed on the head to measure the electrical patterns while the patient sits quietly with eyes open or closed.  For this particular test data was captured before the use of the product and after taking the Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin complex.  Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta, and Gamma waves were measured both before and after the use of the product.

How do brainwaves appear on a Brain Map?  As color-coded Z-scores!

Using the Quantitative EEG or qEEG test, it is possible to measure neural patterns to see how the brain is functioning.  Results from a qEEG are presented as Z-scores.  These scores represent the difference in wave frequency using before and after snapshots.  The Z-scores are color-coded to show increased or decreased activity.  For instance, a score of 0 represents the norm and is color-coded green, red indicates excessive activity, orange, and yellow lessor activity, and blue shows decreased activity.  Below is one of the images taken from the results.

Brain Wave picture

The qEEG comparison report and video provide amazing results!

The report in the video shows a significant change in brainwave activity and lowered z-scores after using Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin tincture.  Z-scores are indicators of activity, with zero being the norm or “mean,” the higher the z-score, the more noteworthy the health condition.  A lower or zero score is optimal.  Several conditions can be measured with this test, including but not limited to migraines, ADHD, Dyslexia, anxiety and depression, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, impaired memory, and more.

The following video provides a 15-minute summary provided by the lab, explaining the process, measurements, and remarkable results.

June 2019 – HeLa Cancer Cell Report / Research using Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin

This research performed by a team of students at Indian River State College is incredibly amazing.  The student’s hypothesis: “Application of CBD/Curcumin would inhibit the growth of HeLa cell culture because of CBD’s anti-proliferative effects on cancer types, and curcumin’s tumorigenesis pathway suppression.”

They followed the HeLa cell protocol before treatment, sterilized Murphy’s CBD/Curcumin complex and stored until needed for application, and then began treating each row [pictured below] with different concentrations of the sterilized complex.

You’ll see in the picture several columns, each well contained roughly 2 ml of HeLa cell culture, mixed with bovine serum for enrichment.  They filter-sterilized the Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/curcumin complex used before treatment.  The first column was the control sample, the second column was treated with 5 ul of the CBD/Curcumin complex, the third with 10 ul of the complex, and the fourth with 20 ul of the complex.  ul stands for microliter.

For clarification, according to the John Hopkins Medicine website, HeLa cells are:

Among the important scientific discoveries of the last century was the first immortal human cell line known as “HeLa”  — a remarkably durable and prolific line of cells obtained during the treatment of Henrietta’s cancer by Johns Hopkins researcher Dr. George Gey in 1951.

Although these were the first cells that could be easily shared and multiplied in a lab setting, Johns Hopkins has never sold or profited from the discovery or distribution of HeLa cells and does not own the rights to the HeLa cell line. Rather, Johns Hopkins offered HeLa cells freely and widely for scientific research. (1)

A little more detail about these “immortal cells.”  This is the oldest and most commonly used human cell line.  The line was derived from cervical cancer cells taken on February 8, 1951, from Henrietta Lacks, a patient who died of cancer on October 4, 1951. (2)

You’ll notice in the following images that the results showed visibly less HeLa cell growth and inhibition with the 20 ul concentration.  There was not much of a difference between the 5 ul and the 10 ul dosages.  The images below provide more detail, much more clear, and appear in the order of “control,” then from lower to higher CBD/Curcumin concentrations applied.

The first image – control:

The second & third:  you can see a bit of the tincture spots:

And in the last photo: you can see the difference in cell count:

Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin inhibited cell growth in the HeLa cancer cells.  The 20 ul dilution wells had visibly less cell growth in comparison to control, 5 ul and 10 ul wells.  The students assumed that the CBD/Curcumin may have silenced the Id-2 and Id-1 gene, which slows cancer development or inhibits the epidermal growth factor.

An interesting side-note, another group of students in the same class used CBD oil, but they had a hard time because it wasn’t water-soluble, [like Murphy’s Natural Hemp].  They eventually had similar results, but according to my source, they had to use a ridiculously high concentration of the oil!  So the Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin is much more efficient and effective.

Based on both tests, continuous research using CBD for medicinal purposes should be considered.  Before using CBD with any other medications you may be taking, consult your physician.  For more information regarding this research, or to purchase Murphy’s Natural Hemp products, go to http://www.murphysnaturalhemp.com.

Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin used in a HeLa Cancer Cell Experiment

In this interview, Khalila Haque, who just completed her Bachelor’s in General Biology at Indian River State College,  shares the exciting results obtained using Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin tincture in treating HeLa cancer cells during lab research.

Me:  Good Morning Khalila, thanks so much for doing this interview with me, I know you’re buried in starting GRE studies and wrapping up school at the same time.  The research from your Cell Biology and Physiology Lab, done with HeLa cancer cells and Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin is incredibly amazing.  I know you were excited to see the results and share it with us.  Would you walk me through the steps?

Khalila:  Sure,  first let me add that I was part of a team, Myron Clemons, myself, and another student.  Our hypothesis was that the “Application of CBD/Curcumin would inhibit the growth of HeLa cell culture because of CBD’s anti-proliferative effects on cancer types, and curcumin’s tumorigenesis pathway suppression.”

We followed the HeLa cell protocol prior to treatment, sterilized Murphy’s CBD/Curcumin complex and stored until needed for application, and then began treating each row [pictured below] with different concentrations of the sterilized complex.

So, you’ll see in the picture [below] several columns, each well contained roughly 2 ml of HeLa cell culture, mixed with bovine serum for enrichment.  We filter sterilized the Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/curcumin complex before treatment.  The first column was our control, the second column was treated with 5 ul of the CBD/Curcumin complex, the third with 10 ul of the complex, and the fourth with 20 ul of the complex.  ul stands for microliter.

Me:  And for our readers, I’m going to stop for just a moment to clarify what HeLa cells are.  According to the John Hopkins Medicine website:

I found a little more detail about these “immortal cells.”  This is the oldest and most commonly used human cell line.  The line was derived from cervical cancer cells taken on February 8, 1951 from Henrietta Lacks, a patient who died of cancer on October 4, 1951. (2)

Me:  Continuing on, Khalila, tell me about this series of slides.

Khalila:  Sure, you’ll notice in the images that follow that the results showed visibly less HeLa cell growth, and inhibition with the 20 ul concentration.

Me:  So the Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin inhibited cell growth in the HeLa cancer cells?

Khalila:  Yes, that’s what we concluded.  The 20 ul dilution wells had visibly less cell growth in comparison to control, 5 ul and 10 ul wells.

For our project, we assume it may silence the Id-2 and Id-1 gene, which slows cancer development, or inhibits the epidermal growth factor.  What’s awesome about this is that another group used CBD oil, but they had a hard time because it wasn’t water-soluble, [like Murphy’s Natural Hemp].  They eventually had similar results, but they had to use a ridiculously high concentration of the oil!  So the Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin is waaaay more efficient and effective.

Based on our results, continuous research should be considered on the properties of CBD and its inhibition of cancerous cell growth.  Not only has CBD shown benefit by possibly inhibiting Id-1 and Id2 gene expression, according to other research we have done, it can also be used to relieve side effects from chemotherapy, such as nausea and vomiting.  In addition, research on Curcumin has proven its anti-inflammatory activity.  This in combination with CBD should be further tested as it may drastically reduce inflammatory factors that lead to cancer development (Shruti, 2018).

Me:  This is exciting research you’ve shared with us.  Is there anything else you’d like to add about your work?  Has this project in any way influenced your opinion of CBD and it’s health benefits?

Khalila:  Personally, this experiment backed up my initial opinion of CBD, and it’s possible anti-cancer properties.  I have read studies that have come up with similar results as well.  It would be interesting to see future research testing and its effects on specific cellular pathways.

Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD & Curcumin Lowers Brain Map Z-Scores!

How does CBD impact brainwaves?

With the explosion of CBD products available on the market today, it’s important that you purchase a product that will produce results.  Earlier this year, Murphy’s Natural Hemp teamed with an FDA approved lab to measure the effects our CBD/Curcumin product had on the brain, and the results were amazing!  First, what is a qEEG?  What’s a brain map?  How is it done, and what can it show?

qEEG

Perhaps you’ve heard of an EEG or Electroencephalography.  The test measures the electrical patterns at the surface of the scalp, which reflects your brainwaves.  A qEEG or Quantitative Electroencephalogram goes further, measuring and analyzing electrical activity, creating a brain map of the activity, or a topical snapshot of brain patterns.  There are a number of studies published in the US National Library of Medicine suggesting that these maps can help aid in evaluating a number of medical conditions.

Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta, and Gamma waves were measured both before and after use of the product.

For instance, a score of 0 represents the norm and is color-coded green, red indicates excessive activity, orange and yellow lessor activity, and blue shows decreased activity.  Below is one of the images taken from the results.

Brain Wave picture

What are the categories of brainwaves & how are they measured?

Brainwaves are produced by repetitive patterns in the brain generated by our neurons communicating with each other.   Over the course of a 24-hour period, an individual will have a mix of brainwaves throughout all the different areas of the brain.  The speed of how fast waves travel, which is measured in Hertz (Hz), divides the waves into categories, fast to slow, depending on what the brain is doing:

— Gamma is the high-performance wave that helps process information quickly.  Its frequency range is 40 to 100 Hz.  High levels of Gamma waves indicate excessive levels of anxiety and stress, low levels may be indicators of depression, ADHD, and learning challenges.

— Beta is the at-work and alert wave that allows you to focus and solve problems.  Its frequency is 12 to 40 Hz.  High levels may indicate anxiety, not being able to relax, increased stress, and adrenaline highs.  Low levels may be indications for depression, poor cognitive ability, brain-fog, and lack of attention.

— Alpha waves are indicators of the relaxed or reflective state.  The frequency range is 8 to 12 Hz.  If there are high levels of Alpha waves, there could be an inability to focus, letting the mind drift into constant daydreaming, or being overly relaxed.  Low levels are indicators of anxiety, OCD, and stress.

— Theta are the drifting off feeling drowsy waves you feel when slowing down, relaxing or meditating.  Its frequency is 4 to 8 Hz.  High levels are indicators of ADHD, hyperactivity, impulsiveness, inability to focus and depression.  Low levels may indicate anxiety, stress, and emotional challenges.  Theta waves are also associated with lack of understanding with social cues, Dyslexia (L brain), and Fibromyalgia.

— Delta are deep sleep waves which contribute to restorative REM sleep and assist in building a healthy immune system.  Their frequency is 0 to 4 Hz.  High levels of Delta waves could indicate brain injuries, learning problems, severe ADHD, and the inability to think or focus.  Low levels indicate the inability for the brain and body to revitalize due to poor sleep.  Delta waves are also associated with migraine and Fibromyalgia.

The qEEG comparison report provides amazing results!

The report shows a significant change in brainwave activity and lowered z-scores after using Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin tincture.  Z-scores are indicators of activity, with zero being the norm or “mean,” the higher the z-score, the more noteworthy the health condition.  A lower or zero score is optimal.  There are a number of conditions that can be measured with this test, including but not limited to migraines, ADHD, Dyslexia, anxiety and depression, Fibromyalgia, neuropathy, impaired memory, and more.

Delta Brainwave Result – Before & After Images

The first image below shows a Delta brainwave Z-score of 7.8 before the use of Murphy’s Natural Hemp Water-Soluble CBD/Curcumin, which according to the lab indicates that this patient could be experiencing increased symptoms with Fibromyalgia, migraine, thinking or focusing, ADHD, and more.

Now compare this with the second image of the Delta brainwaves after the use of Murphy’s Natural Hemp Water-Soluble CBD/Curcumin.  The Z-score has decreased to 3.9!  Remember a decrease in Z-score is a decrease in symptoms!  The physician who conducted this test was very impressed with the results.

Theta brainwaves also showed a reduction before and after use of Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin tincture, from 7.2 to 4.0.   This is good news for individuals looking for natural alternatives to prescription medications.  (Always consult with your doctor before combining or adding natural alternatives to your health care routine.)

How to Identify Good Quality CBD – The Short List

Oil-based CBD vs Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin

You’ve seen the hype, read plenty of articles, have seen it on the news, and have decided CBD may be beneficial for you.  Now.  Who to buy from?  How do you identify good quality CBD products?  Here’s the short list:

First, what does the company promote, and is the research valid?

CBD is being touted as a remedy for a wide range of medical conditions, everything from skin rashes to insomnia to cancer treatment.  Know the product!  Check out the company before you buy from them.  Now that hemp farming has exploded, and product production skyrocketed, there are hundreds, if not thousands of CBD products on the market.  In fact, according to Statista, consumer sales in the U.S. are predicted to reach “around 1.8 billion U.S. dollars by 2022.”(1)

After reading through a vendor’s CBD product claims, check out a few of their sources.  I know, it’s work, but if you’re going to spend hard-earned money, why not spend it wisely?  There should be research sources behind the articles, with references easily available.  If you still have questions, contact the company.  Do they respond quickly?  Or did you get lost in the business shuffle?  Purchase from a company you can trust, like Murphy’s Natural Hemp!

Second, how was the CBD extracted and does it contain other ingredients?

Can you trust that what’s on the label is a true reflection of what’s in the product?  Over 2015 through 2017, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration sent out warning letters to several companies that market products containing CBD.  The FDA tested the chemical content of the CBD compounds in some of these products and found that many were mislabeled.  They, in fact, did not contain the amount of CBD printed on the labels. (2)  Additionally, they’ve recently sent out more letters, and according to their April 2, 2019 press release have scheduled, “a public hearing on May 31, as well as a broader opportunity for written public comment, for stakeholders to share their experiences and challenges with these products, including information and views related to product safety.”(3)

Another thing to take into consideration is how the CBD was extracted from the hemp.  There are several ways to extract CBD from the hemp plants:

  • Co2 Extraction – Safe and provides a pure end product
  • Olive Oil Extraction – Safe, however, the end product is perishable
  • Dry Ice Extraction – Easy to produce, however low quality
  • Solvent Extraction – Straightforward process, however, strips plant wax and could generate oil that contains contaminants

Murphy’s Natural Hemp uses the CO2 extraction method to pull CBD from the hemp plant.  CO2 under high pressure, using low temperatures pulls out CBD isolating and preserving its purity.  Once the CO2 is no longer under intense pressure, it simply evaporates, leaving no traces on the extraction itself.  The CO2 extraction method ensures high quality and a chemical, solvent-free CBD product.

Know what you are ingesting!  Be an informed consumer.  Check to be sure the product has been tested for potency, pesticides, bacteria, and other contaminants.  Murphy’s Natural Hemp must pass a thorough inspection for heavy metals, (arsenic, cadmium, mercury, and lead), microbiological contaminants (bacteria, yeast and molds), and VOC’s (propane, isobutane, butane, methanol, ethanol, acetone, isopropanol, acetonitrile, hexane, and heptane).  Test results are readily available to the consumer.

Third, does the CBD contain any THC?

CBD products may be isolates or full-spectrum.  Full-spectrum will contain less than .3% or trace amounts of THC, which is not considered enough to provide a user with any side effects that they may experience using other cannabis products.  Simply put, you will not get “high” from either the isolate or full-spectrum products.  Murphy’s Natural Hemp products are isolates, meaning they contain no tetrahydrocannabinol or THC.

Lastly, is it oil-based or water-based?

One of the main challenges with CBD is guaranteeing bioavailability of the active ingredient, especially when it has limited gastrointestinal permeability.  Many CBD companies who claim to have water-soluble products that use nano technology for their products.  The compound consists of small nano-size clusters of CBD molecules combined within an insoluble oil.  Eventually, all nano products separate, like oil and water… and further they will not increase in bioavailability while moving through the body’s system.  Ask the supplier if they’ve tested the absorption rate.  What is the percentage of the product that is absorbed by the body?

What water-soluble means is that the CBD is able to blend into water, like sugar in your lemonade or coffee.  Water-based and oil-based products react differently when it comes to being absorbed by the body.  Your body is composed of over 60% water.  Reports show that the body uses less than 10% of the active ingredients in an oil-based product.  Compare this to Murphy’s Natural Hemp water-soluble products, which utilize 90% or more of the active ingredients.

In an effort to build continued trust, and provide transparency to customers, Murphy’s Natural Hemp offers this very telling video demonstration, which compares their water-soluble product with several other CBD oil and water-based products on the market. Murphy’s Natural Hemp is “clearly” the better choice.

Murphy’s Natural Hemp blends CBD and Curcumin Isolates Together

Murphy’s Natural Hemp blends CBD with the powerhouse spice Curcumin, to make it one powerful complex!  Curcumin is one of the main ingredients of turmeric powder, which is harvested from the turmeric plant by grinding up its root.  The root contains a number of substances, many of which are in a group known as curcuminoids.  Curcumin is isolated from these curcuminoids and used in combination with CBD isolate in order to reap an increased number of health benefits from both substances.

Murphy’s Natural Hemp water-soluble, all-natural tinctures are clean, pure, and more bioavailable than any CBD oil product on the market.  For more information or to purchase one of their high-quality products, go to http://www.murphysnaturalhemp.com

Interview with Perry Moore ~ Murphy’s Natural Hemp Sales Team Member

Number two of our three-part interview series with the Murphy’s Natural Hemp Sales Team.  Say hello to Perry Moore.  Perry joined Murphy’s Natural Hemp in late 2018 after the company was formed.  He was called upon to lead the sales team, which freed up CEO Michael Shepard to attend to the company’s day-to-day operations.

Married, with two grown children, Perry lives in Murphy, North Carolina with his wife Joyce.  Along with representing Murphy’s Natural Solutions and Hemp products, Perry is an insurance agent, is active in the church, and enjoys working with the youth group.  In his free time, he enjoys hunting, golf, fishing and spending time with his family.  Oh, and he’s a huge, life-long Alabama RTR fan.  Interviewing Perry, it became obvious to me that he takes great pride in working with Murphy’s Natural Hemp, representing their quality products.

Me:  Welcome Perry, thanks for taking the time out of your busy week to do this interview with me.  I’m curious about what drives people to represent products in this particular industry.  What inspired you to become a sales team member with Murphy’s Natural Hemp?

Perry:  The idea of helping people feel better appealed to me.  I had used these products myself and knew that they worked.  Why not share my experience and the product with others?

Me:  So, you have first-hand experience with the products.  Great! That’s a good testimonial.  With all the CBD products on the market, what do you feel makes Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD unique?  What sets this company apart from the others?

Perry:  The water-solubility of the products, and the additional ingredient, Curcumin, is what sets our products apart from the rest, as well as knowing that the manufacturer is dedicated to producing the highest quality product on the market.

Me:  Not everyone knows what CBD is, or what water-soluble means when you are working with customers, how have you gone about educating them with regard to CBD, and its health benefits?  I imagine that’s part of your role as a representative for Murphy’s Natural Hemp, providing education and good information.

Perry: Research… with all the information we have at our fingertips, folks will read up on the products before using them.  Most everyone has heard of CBD oil.  I take it a step further, explaining how Murphy’s Natural Solution products are far superior to oil-based products because of their bioavailability to the body.  And, you get more for your money.  Because these products are highly bioavailable, less is required to get the desired results.  With an oil-based product, because it is not easily absorbed, the dosages required to get the same effects are higher, so in the end, you spend more.

Me:  That makes perfect sense!  Obviously, the water-based product is the better choice.  Who wants to spend more money?  With the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, Hemp products have increased exponentially.  Tell me about some of the challenges you face in representing Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD products in an exploding market?

Perry:  With all the products on the market, it can be a challenge to stand out.  We keep moving forward with confidence because we know inferior products will not weather the storm.  Regulation is coming, and it will weed out the bad products… because of our quality and commitment, Murphy’s Natural Hemp will still be here.

Me:  What makes the customer come back again and again?  What do you yourself strive toward with regard to customer service?

Perry:  We make ourselves available!   Being there to answer questions customers may have, either by email or picking up the phone, is key to our success.  We work hard to be sure our customers know that we will be there for them when they need us.

Me:  Excellent approach, providing that kind of security and building trust.  So, what about feedback?  Have you received good reports from your customers about the products?

Perry:  Feedback from our customers has been very good.  We have all types of folks managing a variety of health challenges… Fibromyalgia, anxiety, restless legs, muscle pain, and the like.  All have reported success using Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD products.

Me:  Perry, what’s next? What do you see in the future for CBD products?  Being at the forefront, what trends do you see shaping up?

Perry:  Our quality and the effectiveness of the products we carry will continue to move us into the future.  I see CBD becoming more and more mainstream in the coming days, months and years.  Murphy’s Natural Solutions, with its high-quality products, is a company that will be here to see that future unfold.

Me:  Thanks again for being with me today Perry, is there anything else you’d like to share with me today before I let you go?

Perry:  Yes.  I would like to encourage people to try our products, see the benefits, feel better, and very possibly enrich their lives in the process.

Water Soluble CBD

Perry talked with me about water-soluble CBD.  Murphy’s Natural Hemp products are truly water-soluble, and not based on nanotechnology like other CBD products on the market, who also advertise as “water-soluble.”  The nanotechnology they use only grinds the ingredients down to microparticles, which can still ride through, and out of the body.  The process they’ve developed creates a product that is not only truly water-soluble but significantly increases the bioavailability of the product to the body’s system.

Be sure to check the ingredients, and integrity of the company you’re buying CBD products from.  Education is very important in understanding not only the benefits of CBD but also in understanding the different qualities of CBD, along with whatever other ingredients you may be buying when purchasing a CBD combination product.  Unfortunately, what might be advertised on a product label, may not be the true contents.

VIDEO:  Murphy’s Natural Hemp Water-Based CBD vs Oil-Based CBD

Oil and water don’t mix.  Murphy’s Natural Hemp is an all-natural water-soluble source of CBD plus Ayurvedic herbs that have more bioavailability to the body than other hemp oil products on the market.  But don’t just take our word for it… see for yourself!  Obviously, Murphy’s Natural Hemp is the “clear” choice.

Interview with Justin Chumley ~ Murphy’s Natural Hemp Sales Team Member

Over the next week, I’ll be sharing interviews I’ve been able to snag with each member of the Murphy’s Natural Hemp sales team.  These are some incredibly busy individuals!  Today,  Justin Chumley’s in the hot seat.  Justin’s from Eastern North Carolina and has been with Murphy’s Natural Hemp since November, 2018.  He’s known and worked with Michael Shepard, CEO of the company, for upwards of 15 years.  If he has quiet time, which is rare given the booming CBD industry, you’ll find Justin off trout fishing with Diesel his trusty sidekick (pictured), or hanging with family.

Me:  Justin, thanks for agreeing to be in the hot seat today.  What inspired you to become a sales team member with Murphy’s Natural Hemp?

Justin:  I’ve enjoyed the sales industry my entire life, and was excited for the opportunity to sell a product that would enrich consumers’ lives.  Also, it’s not every day you get to work with your best friend.  (Michael Shepard CEO).

Me:  And what do you feel makes Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD products unique?  What sets this company apart from the others?

Justin:  Murphy’s Natural Hemp is unique because it’s water-soluble and more bioavailable than other products on the market… and just as important is the additional ingredient in our products.  Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD also contains Curcumin, which enhances the benefits of the CBD.

Me:  Justin, what are some of the challenges in representing these products in an exploding industry?

Justin:  There are a lot of products in the market that take shortcuts. For example, many products claim they are water-soluble, but they are actually made with nano technology.

Me:  For us lay-people, how is Murphy’s Natural Hemp different from the nano technology companies?

Justin:  There’s no nano complex in our solution.  Nano-complexes disperse tiny clusters of CBD molecules in an insoluble mixture.  Use oil and water as an example… there’s no bioavailability to the body’s system.  Eventually, all these nano products separate just like oil and water.  Our products are made with 100% purified water, no oils, and that’s what makes our products stand out among the rest.  99% of our product is absorbed by the body, compared to the leading oil-based products, which have only shown a 10% absorption rate.

ME:  Impressive!  Tell me about working with the customers.  What goals do you strive toward with regard to customer service?

Justin:  I strive to always be a resource for those curious about the benefits of our products.  Murphy’s Natural Hemp always has an open line of communication with our customers.  We’re ready and available to answer questions and provide up-to-date, accurate information about our products.  We pride ourselves on being a company with integrity and people you can trust.

ME:  And so far, what feedback have you received from your customers about the products?

Justin:  Recently, I had a customer contact me to report that our products helped alleviate her anxiety, and more than her previous prescription medication had.  She was thrilled to no longer have to rely on prescription medication in her daily life.

Me:  That’s right in line with some of the other reviews I’ve read regarding Murphy’s Natural Hemp products.  Good stuff!  What excites you most about the future of CBD products?  Being at the forefront and out working with the public, what kind of trends do you see taking shape?

Justin:  I am excited to see how the science behind CBD will shape future CBD products to become more inclusive of different needs.  CBD products are becoming widely available in big retail stores.  My wife was just talking about how she’s begun receiving marketing emails from beauty retailers for CBD beauty products.

ME:  Thanks Justin.  This wraps up my questions.  Is there anything else you’d like to share with me today?

Justin:  No, business is calling – gotta go!

CBD – Did you know that…

CBD cocktail by Justin Aikin

CBD is showing up everywhere!  There are CBD oils and creams, CBD infused foods, and now you can have it added to your favorite smoothie, coffee, or yes, your cocktail!  Cannabidiol, or CBD oil, is a type of cannabinoid that is found in the Hemp plant.  It does not have any psychoactive effects, so does not get the user “high.”  The cannabinoid has become increasingly popular over the last several years for treating patients with a range of medical conditions.  There’s a flood of information available about CBD and its benefits, but did you know that…

  • The medicinal properties of the cannabis plant have been known and respected for thousands of years, and not just for its flowers and stems.  The root was also used. (1)  A 2017 study speaks of the Roman historian, Pliny the Elder, “who wrote in his Natural Histories that ‘a decoction of the root in water relaxes contractions of the joints and cures gout and similar maladies.’ Throughout history, the hemp plant’s root has been recommended as a natural remedy for treating inflammation, joint pain, and gastrointestinal problems. (2)
  • CBD changes brainwaves.  Murphy’s Natural Hemp teamed with an FDA approved lab to run a case-study using the qEEG test in order to measure the effects our CBD/Curcumin product has on the brain.  During this particular case study, there appeared a consistent drop in wave Z-scores across all areas of the brain, especially in Delta, and Theta waves.  A reduction in Z-score is an indicator of a reduction in the symptoms associated with the particular brain wave.
  • CBD appears to work with the body’s own natural pain management system called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) that creates natural anti-inflammatory and painkilling effects.  The body’s ECS is made up of three components: cannabinoid receptors (the things that receive chemical signals outside the cell), endocannabinoids (small molecules that activate cannabinoid receptors), and metabolic enzymes that break down endocannabinoids after they are used.  “All vertebrate animals [naturally] express at least two cannabinoid receptors.  The CB1 receptor principally functions in the nervous system but is expressed in many cells throughout the body.  CB2 receptors are primarily associated with cells governing immune function.”(3)  Researchers believe that CBD compounds may positively interact with these receptors.  Individuals living with Fibromyalgia may find CBD to be helpful in managing symptoms.
  • Industrial Hemp CBD oil is legal.  With the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, Hemp has exploded in growth, production, and consumer use.  The farm bill did several things.  It provided subsidies for American farmers, reinforced locally grown foods, expanded trade opportunities, kept SNAP in place, and legalized the production of the hemp plant.  However, the natural chemical compound that comes from the hemp or cannabis sativa plant that is used in products and sold on the market must contain less than 0.3% delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the euphorigenic component of cannabis.  Be an informed consumer!
  • Your pet has the same endocannabinoid system you do.  CBD may be helpful for managing your pet’s anxiety during times of stress, or when they are suffering from pain and inflammation due to arthritis. (4)
  • The contents listed on the label of your CBD product may not be accurate! Additionally, they’ve recently sent out more letters, and according to their April 2, 2019 press release have scheduled, “a public hearing on May 31, as well as a broader opportunity for written public comment, for stakeholders to share their experiences and challenges with these products, including information and views related to product safety.” (5)  Choose a CBD company you can trust!
  • Water-soluble means the product is highly capable of dissolving in water.  It also means better absorption in the body!  Oil and water don’t mix.  One of the main challenges with CBD is guaranteeing the bioavailability of the active ingredients, especially when they have limited gastrointestinal permeability.  To improve aqueous solubility, and thus the therapeutic effectiveness of these compounds, Murphy’s Natural Hemp products are designed using pharmaceutical technologies to increase bioavailability.  See for yourself!

CBD for anxiety

Anxiety - StressAnxiety on the rise

Anxiety, that feeling that something is horribly wrong.  Maybe you have panic attacks, can’t sleep, experience heart palpitations, or suffer from other symptoms like nausea, trembling, and racing thoughts.  Maybe just the word makes you anxious!

You are not alone.  According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 300 million people around the globe live with an anxiety disorder. (1)  And, it’s on the rise.  A 2018 poll conducted by the American Psychiatric Association indicates a five-point jump over 2017.  The poll rated U.S. participants’ concerns surrounding health, safety, finances, relationships, and politics, with Baby Boomers experiencing the greatest increase in anxiety. (2)

Treatment

There are a number of prescription medications used to treat anxiety disorders.  Along with those medications come a big-bundle of side effects that could include:

  • blurred vision
  • headache
  • nausea
  • dizziness
  • fatigue
  • sleep problems
  • increased blood pressure
  • weight gain
  • depression
  • and the list goes on…

CBD – the natural alternative

cannabis sativaCannabidiol, or CBD, may offer an alternative method in managing anxiety.  It is a chemical compound that comes from the cannabis sativa plant, an annual herbaceous flowering plant.  Cannabidiol is one of over 100 such compounds, known as cannabinoids, that are found in the plant.  CBD does not have any psychoactive effects and has a good safety profile.  It does not get the user “high.”  The cannabinoid has become increasingly popular over the last several years for treating patients with a range of medical conditions, including anxiety.

There are a number of research studies published from 2015 through 2019 that indicate CBD may be beneficial for those living with anxiety disorders.  A January 2019 study by Shannon, Lewis, Lee, and Hughes stated, “The results of our clinical report support the existing scientific evidence.  In our study, CBD appears to be better tolerated than routine psychiatric medications,” and “Furthermore, CBD displays promise as a tool for reducing anxiety in clinical populations…” (3)

Should you give this natural alternative a try?  As always, it’s important to talk with your doctor when adding supplements to treat any health condition you may have.  And what about the dosage? Ingredients? THC content?  Here’s the short story:

Dosage and integrity of ingredients

  • Since there’s no one-dose-fits-all CBD amount, it’s best to start small with just a couple of drops, and then increase or decrease dosage as needed.  Something else to take into consideration, how long the effects of the dosage of CBD lasts.  In the beginning, you may need to do some tracking to adjust your dose as necessary.  Document when you took it and how long it lasted to determine personal need and increase or decrease dosage accordingly.  Figuring out how to correctly dose CBD will be important in maximizing the benefits of this natural remedy.
  • Be aware of the additional ingredients in your CBD!  I have allergies to olive oil and soy products, so I searched and purchased what looked like a safe product, only to find out later that I had purchased CBD that contained soy.  The company did not have it listed on the products site description.  It was only after being delivered and the package opened that I discovered in a product pamphlet that soy was one of the other ingredients contained.  I again thoroughly researched and purchased a pure water-based product.  Sometimes you have to dig around on CBD websites to find out what the other ingredients might be.  Some contain soy, others contain olive or coconut oil, and still others may contain vitamins.  Be an informed consumer.
  • Do you have concerns about overdosing with CBD? My research indicates that the most it can do is make you super-sleepy, so start small and work up to the dose that works for you. Ultimately, finding the correct CBD dose is important so that you can maximize the effects of the compound while using the minimum amount needed, which will save you money.  Water-soluble CBD’s are found to be more effective as you will use less since it will enter your body’s system quicker and easier than an oil-based product.

Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD/Curcumin

Murphy’s Natural Hemp pairs the benefits of CBD with the powerhouse spice, Curcumin.  Curcumin is receiving worldwide attention due to its multiple health benefits, which appear to act primarily through its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms.  It is one of the main ingredients of turmeric powder, which is harvested from the turmeric plant by grinding up its root.  Curcumin has shown promising effects in patients with various pro-inflammatory diseases including arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel disease, ulcers and more.

Does it contain any THC?

We use the CO2 extraction method to pull CBD from the hemp plant.  It is viewed as the safest way to extract and guarantee a pure end product.  Murphy’s Natural Hemp products are isolates, meaning they contain no tetrahydrocannabinol or THC.

Other market products may be full-spectrum CBD.  These will contain less than .3% or trace amounts of THC, which is not considered enough to provide a user with any side effects they may experience using other cannabis products.  Simply put, you will not get “high” from either the isolate or full-spectrum product.

Murphy’s Natural Hemp Products are Water-Soluble

One of the main challenges with CBD and Curcumin is guaranteeing the bioavailability of the active ingredients, especially when they have limited gastrointestinal permeability.  To improve aqueous solubility, and thus the therapeutic effectiveness of these compounds, we researched countless formulation strategies, and were successful in finding a solution!  Murphy’s Natural Hemp products are designed with pharmaceutical technology that is typically used where circumstances demand increasing vital water insoluble proteins for patients who are dealing with illnesses.

Unlike other CBD formulas, there is no nano complex in our solution, which only disperses small nano-size clusters of CBD molecules in an otherwise insoluble mixture. Eventually, all nano products separate, like oil and water… and, they show no improvement for increasing bioavailability.  And our products are made with 100% purified water, unlike oil-based CBD products offered by other companies.  This is what makes our products stand out among the rest.  99% of our product is absorbed by the body.  Only 10% of CBD is absorbed using the leading oil-based products.

Does your CBD actually contain what the label says it does?

CBD Products by Kimberly Nanney

Serving Up CBD

CBD products have increased exponentially on the market.  There are now literally thousands of products available from oil tinctures, to vaping oils, body creams, salad dressings, food additives, dietary supplements, and depending on where you live, the local barista will add it to your favorite drink!  Ah, but do you know anything about what you’ve purchased?  What’s on the label?  Can you trust that what’s on the label is a true reflection of what’s in the product?

Over 2015 through 2017, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration sent out warning letters to several companies that market products containing CBD.  The FDA tested the chemical content of the CBD compounds in some of these products and found that many were mislabeled.  They, in fact, did not contain the amount of CBD printed on the labels. What is CBD? The short story:

CBD or Hemp extract is a natural chemical compound that comes from the hemp or cannabis sativa plant.  It is one of over 100 such compounds, known as cannabinoids, that are found in the plant.  Research studies have shown this cannabinoid to be beneficial in helping to manage several health conditions, in particular reducing pain symptoms, treating nausea that often accompanies cancer treatment, and in adults with multiple sclerosis, there were improved spasticity symptoms. (3)

How is CBD extracted from hemp and what method does Murphy’s Natural Hemp use?

What are the ingredients in Murphy’s Natural Hemp CBD tinctures?

  • Murphy’s CBD/Curcumin CBD contains:
    • 560 mg proprietary isolate – 18.67 mg per serving
    • (Pure water 99% + Pure CBD/Curcumin Isolates)
  • Murphy’s Natural Hemp Sleep Aid contains:
    • CBD/Curcumin 690 mg isolates – 18.67mg CBD/Curcumin per serving
    • (Pure water 99% + Pure CBD/Curcumin Isolate)
    • 30mg Melatonin – 1mg per serving
    • 99mg 5-HTP – 3.33mg per serving
    • 99mg GABA – 3.33mg per serving

CBD – a natural remedy for PTSD symptoms

ptsd-cloud

CBD has been reported to be beneficial in treating several medical conditions, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD.  According to the American Psychiatric Association, PTSD affects nearly 3.5 percent of U.S. adults, with an estimated 1 in 11 people diagnosed during their lifetime as a result of traumatic events.  PTSD United, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and resources for sufferers of PTSD, reports approximately 44.7 million people struggle with this condition.

PTSD defined:

The American Psychiatric Association defines PTSD as “ a psychiatric disorder that can occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, a serious accident, a terrorist act, war/combat, rape or other violent personal assault.” (1) PTSD is not limited to these experiences.  Individuals who have lost their homes to fire, floods or tornadoes, those who have lived with life-threatening illnesses or those who have gone through a divorce or relationship breakup may experience PTSD.

Individual symptoms of PTSD may include:
  • distressing memories or negative thoughts related to a past experience
  • living through memories of the event with flashbacks or nightmares
  • unusual sadness, fear, or anger
  • feeling detached from people or the world around them
  • avoiding social situations that may seem similar to the past event
  • becoming startled by loud noises
  • experiencing touch or smells that remind the individual of an event

Prescription drugs currently used to treat PTSD include antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and sedatives.  These types of medication carry major side effects such as nausea, fatigue, drowsiness, blurred vision, dizziness and further, can be addictive.  Also, the Harvard Health Publishing newsletter updated March 2019 reported that “The risk that antidepressants will incite violent or self-destructive actions is the subject of continuing controversy. In 2004, the FDA first initiated a Black Box Warning on SSRIs — its strongest available measure short of withdrawing a drug from the market.” (2)

What is CBD and how can it help with PTSD?

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a chemical compound that comes from the cannabis sativa plant, an annual herbaceous flowering plant.  It is one of over 100 such compounds, known as cannabinoids, that are found in the plant.  CBD does not have any psychoactive effects and has a good safety profile.  It does not get the user “high.”  The cannabinoid has become increasingly popular over the last several years for treating patients with a range of medical conditions, including PTSD.

The body has its own endocannabinoid system or ECS.  Our body’s ECS is made up of three components: cannabinoid receptors (the things that receive chemical signals outside the cell), endocannabinoids (small molecules that activate cannabinoid receptors), and metabolic enzymes that break down endocannabinoids after they are used.  “All vertebrate animals [naturally] express at least two cannabinoid receptors.  The CB1 receptor principally functions in the nervous system but is expressed in many cells throughout the body.  CB2 receptors are primarily associated with cells governing immune function.” (3)  Researchers believe that CBD compounds may positively interact with receptors and block the retrieval of memories of traumatic events, which in turn can reduce anxiety connected to the events.

A study conducted in July 2018, which follows the history of cannabidiol use as a therapeutic alternative for PTSD found, “… the use of components from Cannabis sativa such as CBD particularly promising.” (3)

Human and animal studies suggest that CBD may offer therapeutic benefits for disorders related to inappropriate responses to traumatic memories. The effects of CBD on the different stages of aversive memory processing make this compound a candidate pharmacological adjunct to psychological therapies for PTSD. CBD also shows an action profile with fewer side effects than the pharmacological therapy currently used to treat this type of disorder. (3)

Should you decide to use CBD products for PTSD symptoms, or for any other medical condition, always contact your doctor first to be sure there are no interactions with medications you may be taking.
